VAUCLUSE
HHC Engineers proudly undertook the Vaucluse project, a stunning 5-storey, 5-bedroom home nestled on a very steep site overlooking the ocean. The site presented unique challenges, consisting of loose sand, requiring meticulous engineering solutions to ensure a stable and secure foundation.
With two levels of excavation required from street level, our team implemented a contiguous piles shoring system, reinforced with internal horizontals and inclined bracing. This approach provided essential support and stability during the excavation process, safeguarding the integrity of the site. Given the varying soil conditions, the footings for the property were designed to accommodate different scenarios. The section of the property located on rock foundations was supported accordingly with the necessary footings, while the other half, situated on sand, was supported using screw piles. This strategic foundation design ensured the structural stability of the home. The infinity pool was also designed to be supported by the screw piling system.
The home features a full load-bearing structure, utilising AFS walls to provide structural support. The load-bearing structure efficiently supports the concrete suspended slabs, ensuring a sturdy and secure foundation for the entire property.
Through meticulous planning, innovative engineering solutions, and close collaboration with architects and builders, HHC Engineers has successfully overcome the unique challenges presented by the Vaucluse project. Our focus on structural integrity, site-specific considerations, and attention to detail has resulted in a remarkable 5-storey home that harmonises seamlessly with its picturesque surroundings, showcasing excellence in design and construction.
