AQUA STAGE 2A; EAST SIDE QUARTER
HHC Engineers played a crucial role in the Aqua Stage 2A project, another remarkable addition to the East Side Quarter development. This stage involved the construction of two buildings, comprising 76 units and 6 retail stores, across 5 storeys with 1 basement level.
HHC Engineers tackled various site works challenges during the Aqua Stage 2A project to ensure a successful outcome. Foundation piles were expertly installed, reaching the bedrock to counter the presence of weak upper subgrade materials. Additionally, the construction of bridging structures over the existing Sydney Water sewer was carefully managed, facilitating seamless progress while preserving the integrity of essential infrastructure.
HHC Engineers excelled in meeting the structural demands of the Aqua Stage 2A project. A column frame structure was skillfully implemented, providing stability and flexibility for the buildings. Post-tension slabs were strategically employed from the podium level and above, optimizing structural efficiency and reducing material usage. The rooftop structure was thoughtfully designed to accommodate all building services equipment, including mechanical and hydraulic systems. Furthermore, the presence of strategically placed expansion joints over the large podium slab allowed for flexibility in accommodating retail tenancies, an above-grade car park, a garbage truck turntable, and two residential buildings. The project also incorporated a level 1 communal and landscaped area, providing a pleasant space for residents to enjoy.
By successfully addressing both the site works challenges and structural complexities, HHC Engineers delivered outstanding results in the Aqua Stage 2A project. Our comprehensive approach, combining meticulous site planning and innovative structural design, resulted in a successful development that harmonizes functionality, aesthetics, and adaptability.
